2019 Red Label Cabernet Sauvignon
By Red Label
Red Label
Adelaide Hills
Story: Traditional crafting techniques with a modern twist, newly released Red Label represents wines made from the hero varietals from the most premium regions across South Australia.
Vintage: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below-average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.
Nose: Red to blackcurrant and mulberry aromas intermix with black olive, cedary tobacco and spicy dried herb notes.
Palate: Medium bodied and elegantly structured, red currant and mulberry fruits are interwoven with dried herb, cedary tobacco characters, black olives and spice. Fine grained tannins concluding with a refined medium length aftertaste.
Food Pairings: Char-grilled lamb chops and fresh Greek salad
Oak Maturation: 30% new French oak for 18 months.
Cellaring: Drink now or to 2029
