2023 Hand Crafted Gamay

Hand Crafted

Adelaide Hills

Story: Gamay, revered as a quintessential grape variety in the renowned Beaujolais region of France, stands as a testament to the elegance and finesse achievable in winemaking. From ironstone and gravel rich soil, sitting on a gentle slope in Kuitpo, our Gamay yields wine of remarkable freshness and vibrancy, characterised by bright red fruit aromas and compelling texture. Embraced by winemakers for its adaptability and expressive nature, Gamay continues to captivate enthusiasts with its lively personality and inherent charm, we give a nod to the essence of Beaujolais' winemaking tradition and cultural heritage.

Vintage: The 2023 vintage was very cool and very even in temperature, so we were able to harvest each variety in its perfect window of premium ripeness for the intended wine styles. This was the third cool year in a row and the fruit flavours across the board were exceptional.

Nose: The Gamay offers a bright nose characterized by strawberry, red cherry, and violets, with a subtle hint of oregano.

Palate: On the palate, it presents flavours of vibrant red fruits and herbal notes.

Pairing: Made to be enjoyed in its youth, this Ga may pairs beautifully with lemon and herb roasted chicken sitting on caramelised half onions and crispy golden potatoes. The wine's lively character and fruit-forward profile complement the fresh and aromatic qualities of the chicken dish, resulting in a delightful culinary experience.
