2017 K1 Tzimmukin

By K1

Adelaide Hills

Story: One of the more intriguing wines created in biblical times was the ‘Tzimmukin’, using slightly dried grapes to increase strength and longevity. At K1 we have captured the essence of this ancient technique by slowly air drying our best parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in baskets to produce a quintessential Australian blend.

Vintage: Spring and summer were cooler than normal with above average rainfall the 2017 vintage happened much later than usual. The combination of those factors and dry weather for most of the harvest resulted in higher yields and excellent quality across regions.

Nose: With aromas of blueberries, mulberries, plums enhanced by overtones of rosemary, nori and dark chocolate .

Palate: The palate shows great purity of fruit. Bright berry and pomegranate reduction with rosemary supporting. Line and length and persistence of flavour truly define this seductive fuller bodied red wine. The essence of K1 in a bottle

Pairing: Be daring and try this wine with a Kangaroo fillet with a creamy mushroom sauce.

Oak maturation: 20 months in seasoned French oak.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2040
