2019 GMH SA Family Selection Red Blend
GMH
South Australia
Story: This Red Blend is put together at the family dinner table. All the parcels of wine available for this wine are put on the table and a final blend is decided. The 2019 vintage consists of 60% Shiraz, 26% Merlot, 9% Tannat, 2.5% Durif and 2.5% Petit Verdot sourced from a variety of regions around South Australia including Riverland, Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.
Vintage: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below-average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.
Nose: The nose offers aromas of plums, blackberries and a hint of dried herbs.
Palate: The palate is bright and luscious with vibrant fruit, followed by a tight and elegant finish.
Food Pairings: This wine is fantastic with a range of dishes, try it with lasagne or a weekend BBQ.
Oak Maturation: 30% new French oak for 18 months.
Cellaring: Drink now or to 2024
