2021 Geoff Hardy Gate Label Shiraz

EXPORT SALE ONLY

McLaren Vale

Story: The Gate Shiraz is a bold expression of the famed McLaren Vale region, where the unique Mediterranean climate and rich soils come together to create some of the most iconic Shiraz wines in Australia. McLaren Vale's sun-drenched days and cooling ocean breezes help the grapes reach their full potential, giving the wine its deep colour and rich, concentrated flavours.

Vintage: 2021 will be one for the record books in more than one way but as far as vineyards across South Australia are concerned it was near perfect. Higher than average rainfall over winter allowed vines to produce good canopy and the cool – dry summer gave us beautiful even ripening conditions. This slow ripening allows great flavour development and retention of natural acidity.

Nose: The Gate Shiraz opens with a deep bouquet of dark plum, wolfberry, and blackberry, accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla and cedar for added complexity.

Palate: On the palate, layers of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and raspberry unfold, complemented by rich undertones of chocolate and coffee. This Shiraz is dense and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and exceptional length, delivering a dark and luxurious tasting experience.

Pairing: Pair this bold Shiraz with a grilled ribeye steak served with a peppercorn sauce. The richness of the meat and the spice complement the wine's dark fruit and velvety tannins.

Cellaring: Drink now or to 2041
