McLaren Vale

Story: Sourced from the sun-drenched vineyards of Mclaren Vale, this Grenache reflects the region's long-standing love affair with the variety. Once the quiet backbone of many blends, Grenache is now celebrated in its own right for its vibrancy, fragrance, and finesse. The Mediterranean climate of Mclaren Vale brings ripe fruit and supple tannins, while thoughtful winemaking preserves brightness and aromatic lift. This wine is both a nod to tradition and a showcase of modern Australian Grenache.

Vintage: The 2024 Vintage was initiated by a very wet spring after a relatively dry July, August and September. The wet period included two large rainfalls during November and early December leading to spoilt flowering, very low berry numbers and an extremely low crop in most varieties. These low crops were blessed with cool dry conditions throughout the three months up to vintage giving fabulous flavour development very much like the 2002 season which makes me confident of wines that will age brilliantly

Nose: Red cherry, raspberry and blueberry lead the nose, lifted by rose petal, dried herbs and a gentle touch of spice. The aromatics are vibrant and perfumed, offering both freshness and savoury intrigue.

Palate: Bright raspberry and cherry fruit drive the palate, with a silky texture and notes of fennel seed and subtle spice adding depth and complexity. A fine line of acidity carries the flavours through to a smooth, elegant finish.

Pairing: Perfect with slow-roasted lamb shoulder infused with rosemary and garlic. The wine's freshness and fine tannins cut through the richness of the meat, while the herbal notes echo the flavours in the dish.

Cellaring: Drink now or to 2034
